

About Us

David Jenkinson is the owner and head instructor of Hawkesbury BJJ and a 2nd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Born and raised in Western Sydney, growing up in the Penrith and Mt Druitt areas, David brings a grounded, energetic, and experienced approach to coaching.
With over a decade of teaching experience, David’s classes are known for being high-energy, practical, and engaging. His teaching philosophy centres around live, realistic training — including positional sparring, task-based games, and drills that always involve a live element. This approach ensures students stay sharp, focused, and prepared for real-world application and competition.

David’s vision for Hawkesbury BJJ is to build more than just a martial arts school — it's to foster a tight-knit community where people of all ages can pursue self-improvement through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a fun, supportive ,and hard-working environment.
Outside of BJJ, David enjoys spending time with his family, motorsport, sim racing, and is a proud Sydney Roosters fan.

Sinem Jenkinson has been training in martial arts since 1994, beginning her journey in karate before later adding taekwondo to further develop her kicking and overall striking ability.
Over the years, she has achieved a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Karate and a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, with experience in point sparring competition.
Alongside her martial arts background, Sinem brings strong educational credentials to the academy. She holds a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education from Western Sydney University and works as a primary school teacher, giving her a deep understanding of how children learn, develop confidence, and thrive in structured environments.
Sinem is passionate about creating a positive, supportive, and engaging learning experience for students of all ages. Outside the gym, she enjoys listening to music and singing, and is an active member of a choir.

Matilda Jenkinson began her martial arts journey at just 3 years old, starting in karate and later adding Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 5. Her long-term dedication to training has seen her achieve a Black Belt in Karate and a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, along with experience as a BJJ competitor.
Matilda is known for her strong work ethic, technical skill, and calm approach on the mats, making her a positive role model for younger students. She brings enthusiasm and focus to every class and competition, and takes pride in representing Hawkesbury BJJ with professionalism and respect.
Outside of training, Matilda is a big Taylor Swift fan and enjoys going to concerts.
